Born in Georgia, Jerry Farnsworth studied at the School of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and later with Charles Hawthorne in Provincetown, Massachusetts.  He was a member of the National Academy of Design, National Arts Club, Provincetown Art Association, and the Salmagundi Club, among others.  He painted on Cape Cod for many years, where he taught classes in the school he founded in Truro.  He exhibited, frequently winning prizes, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, National Academy of Design, Corcoran Gallery, Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Institute, Grand Central Galleries, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  His work was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and other institutions.  He also painted and taught in Sarasota, Florida.
