Provenance:
private collection, Maine, since 1995
Born in Maine, Wesley Webber moved to Boston, where he apprenticed to a sign and carriage painter for several years. He then began his career as a painter, with a studio in the city. His excursions for painting took him to the White Mountains, as well as the coastal areas of New England. He was friends and colleagues with John J. Enneking and Frank Shapleigh. Although he later moved to New York, Webber exhibited widely in New England and beyond, including at the Boston Art Club, Peabody Museum in Salem, Portland Museum of Art in Maine, Brooklyn Academy, and National Academy of Design.
