Scottish artist William A. Gibson was primarily a landscape painter, with subjects ranging from the river views of his native Scotland and in Holland. He was stylistically influenced by Corot, as well as the Dutch landscape painters, focusing his views on moody scenes in nature. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy, as well as in exhibitions on the Continent. Gibson’s paintings hang in numerous public collections, such as the Aberdeen Museums and Galleries, Glasgow Museums, The Hungarian, Paisley Art Institute, and the McLean Museum and Art Gallery.
